Kasia Niewiadoma Phinney: “Demi is super strong right now”

Kasia Niewiadoma Phinney (Canyon//Sram zondacrypto): “Overall I think I am happy. I am unhappy with myself that I was not able to hold Demi’s [Vollering] wheel on La Redoute. That wasn’t the plan. But she is super strong right now and we never gave up with the chase. So that was very nice, we believed anything was possible. But the main take away point is that I still have some work to do in order to close the gap to Demi. Overall though I’m happy with the third place. I think we have seen in general this season, with Demi and her team, they seem to be very dialled in and they know what to do. They have a plan and they stick to it. So I think all the pieces have come together well and then they get the confidence and the support from the team, it makes them rise even higher.”

[On being the only rider to complete all ten editions of the race]: “I remember when they announced that we would have Liège-Bastogne-Liège for women, what an exciting piece of news that was for all of us. We were super stoked to have the Ardennes classics because we had spent a lot of time watching the guys [men’s races]. The women’s sport is growing and improving every year and you have to look for more. You have to train more, recover better, there’s always something more. I’m happy I don’t have ten more years because I would be worn out completely!”
