Demi Vollering: “I really love this race”

Demi Vollering (FDJ United - Suez): “It’s incredible. I really wanted to win again here, I really love this race. It brings back so many good memories for me. Even before there was a women’s race here, when I was just riding in a club, I was dreaming about winning it, without knowing if it would be held one day. Then, finally, we got it, I became a pro and now I’m winning for the third time. It’s incredible. I’m super proud. Women’s sport deserves so much more.”

“I wanted to go all out for this victory and not to have any regret afterwards. So we made a plan to go from La Redoute. Actually, we wanted to have a teammate in the front before, but that didn’t really work out. Still, I went. It was a long way but I managed to finish it off. We really know each other in the team, how strong we are and what everybody’s strong points are in the race. We make a plan with that and we do it over and over again. I’m super proud of everybody, sticking to the plan and not being afraid to push themselves to win here.”

“[The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift] is still far. You need to stay healthy, to have a good training period before. Last year, I was also in pretty good form here but later I lost it a little bit. We should enjoy what’s already in the pocket and the rest will come later.”
